Their employment specialists are skilled in helping you identify work interests, develop goals and find the job of your choice. NeighborWorks Homeownership Center

The NeighborWorks HomeOwnership Center at Avesta Housing provides a variety of services to help you meet your financial goals. They offer free budget and credit counseling for anyone who wants to learn to manage his/her money better or improve his/her credit health. They also offer classes for first time homebuyers that teach people about the entire homebuying process. These classes are $30 per person, or $50 for two people, and meet the education requirement to obtain a Rural Development loan or a Maine State Housing Loan. The Maine State Housing Loan includes a $3,500 grant that can be used on a down payment or closing costs, as long as the homebuyer(s) meet income requirements. They also offer free foreclosure intervention counseling for anyone facing the foreclosure of their home.
Study Centers
Study Center PageThe Portland Housing Authority Study Centers offer one-on-one and small group support during the academic year. Though adults are welcome to attend during the afternoon hours when children are there, the centers are open in the mornings when youth are in school in order to provide specific attention to adults that want to use the space. The Study Centers have internet, computers, printers, scanners, photocopiers, and other resources available as well as staff on site to offer support and connection with resources.
