BROWNFIELDS CLEANUP PUBLIC MEETING

The Portland Housing Development Corporation (PHDC) will hold a public meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 using video conferencing. A link to the meeting will be posted here, no later than noon on November 1, 2023. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a U.S. EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant application being submitted for a parcel of land located at 33 West Presumpscot Street in Portland, Maine. PHDC will explain the Brownfields program and the proposed cleanup strategy, and will hear public comments, questions, and/or concerns related to the project. Grant funds are proposed to be used to remediate and manage contaminated soils to support future residential development at the Site. A copy of the draft funding application and draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) report is available for public review by request, and the public comment period will run from October 25, 2023 until Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. Please reach out to Jay Waterman, Director of Real Estate Development, via email at jwaterman@porthouse.org to review the draft funding application or draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) report.
